NetDebit FAQs (frequently asked questions)

What do I have to adjust when using Norton Internet Security?

If you have installed security software on your computer, it may prevent usage of NetDebit services because of blocked information that is needed for the protection of the member area on the chosen website.

In many cases Norton Internet Security software (NIS) is the reason for that because its standard configuration prevents transfer of required information. If you use another software, you should find information in the respective manual.

Version 2009

To open Norton Internet Security please right-click the Norton Internet Security icon (a black globe on yellow background) in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen. Alternatively you can call up NIS via [Start] > [All Programs] > [Norton Internet Security].

For testing purposes you can deactivate the option [Internet] > [intelligent firewall] by clicking the button on the right side.

If the deactivation of the firewall solves the problem, you have the possibility to setup rules for the booked websites. This has the advantage that you can reactivate the firewall and that your computer stays protected. For this purpose click the button [Settings] next to the item [Internet]. You have various options to adjust firewall settings in the new window. For further information please click on the question mark icon.

Please note that you must have administrator rights to do these modifications if your computer is running Windows XP or Windows Vista. When you're using a Windows XP Home Edition, which was supplied at the purchase, you should be working with administrator rights as a rule normally. Otherwise please log on to your computer as an administrator. You will find further information in your computer manual.
